The D. E. Shaw group seeks a chief of staff to join its Middle & Back Office Technology (MBOT) group. The MBOT team is responsible for developing and supporting technology solutions that drive operational excellence across groups including asset servicing, trade operations, tax, treasury, accounting, investor relations, legal, and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and play a key part in shaping the group’s business transformation efforts. What you’ll do day-to-day - Coordinate and drive execution of strategic projects and operational priorities across the MBOT group. - Partner with senior leaders to define objectives, track progress, and ensure alignment with firmwide goals. - Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams and stakeholders. - Prepare materials and presentations for executive meetings, synthesizing complex information for senior audiences. - Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership, helping to shape strategy, challenge assumptions, and think through complex, ambiguous problems. - Identify opportunities to improve processes, implement best practices, and support change management initiatives. What we’re looking for - A bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or a related field. - Ten or more years of experience in project management, business operations, or a similar capacity, preferably within financial services or technology organizations. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-impact projects and coordinate across a range of teams. - Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior leadership. - Proven track record of exercising sound judgment, maintaining discretion with sensitive information, and fostering a collegial work environment. - The expected annual base salary for this position is $225,000 to $300,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
