In addition, VIAVI Engineers build modern software systems to ensure that all forms of information communication provide high level of service to customers. What You'll Do Modern C++ on Linux inside an SCA 4.1 core framework: waveform components and their ports, device abstractions, control and status APIs, and the network path that drives a T/Rx from a phone, tablet or PC — under real-time constraints, at high IQ rates. Advanced VHDL on the digital chain: up- and down conversion, decimation and interpolation, FIR and CIC filtering, channelization, streaming interfaces, converter links, and full-bandwidth record and playback. You learn budget logic, DSP slices, bandwidth and latency. The 1 MHz – 18 GHz path: LO and synthesizer planning, spurious and harmonic analysis, gain / noise figure / IP3 cascades, filtering and isolation, transmit linearity, receiver sensitivity and dynamic range, calibration, and the thermal realities of an all-weather ruggedized box. IQ recording and playback, parametric signal synthesis, detection, classification and parameter estimation, wideband spectrum sensing. You prototype an algorithm, prove it against captured data, take it to fixed point, and hand it to the FPGA and software teams — closing the loop on the other three. Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: Requirements: BS or MS from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or an equivalent technical discipline. Working knowledge of C or C++, and comfort in a Linux environment. Coursework, project or research experience in at least two of: signals and systems / DSP; RF, microwave or communication theory; digital logic design and HDL; embedded or real-time systems. Scripting and modelling ability in Python or MATLAB. Engineering experience outside the classroom — internship, co-op, research, hackathon, competition team or a serious personal project.
