Job Purpose BorgWarner HR Shared Services is going through an exciting period of transformation as we continue to enhance our services, improve process efficiency, and strengthen how we partner with our BU HRBPs, employees, managers, and students. We are currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an HR Shared Services Intern at our Propulsion Technical Center (PTC), in Auburn Hills, MI. This position will report to the HR Shared Services Manager and must be able to work 20-30 hours a week while enrolled as a full-time student. In this role, the HR Shared Services Intern will primarily support student recruitment and university relations activities for the Propulsion Technical Center (PTC) and World Headquarters (WHQ), while also contributing to process improvement, technology enablement, and employee experience initiatives. Responsibilities may include coordinating campus recruiting events, supporting candidate communication and interview scheduling, assisting with intern/co-op onboarding, and helping identify ways to simplify, automate, and improve HR processes. Key Responsibilities Support student recruitment and university relations activities, including campus recruiting events, candidate communication, interview scheduling, pre-employment coordination, onboarding, and orientation for interns/co-ops. Assist with planning and execution of student program initiatives, including intern/co-op engagement activities, program communications, and student experience support. Coordinate with internal partners such as IT, Facilities, hiring managers, and HR team members to support a smooth student hiring and onboarding experience. Provide first-level support to employees and students in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner. Assist with HR reporting, data entry, records maintenance, personnel file updates, and audit activities to support accuracy and compliance. Support HR projects, process improvement efforts, benchmarking, and internal communications as assigned. Identify opportunities to improve HR Shared Services and student program processes by simplifying workflows, reducing manual effort, and enhancing the employee, candidate, and student experience. Explore and recommend ways to leverage technology, automation, reporting tools, and digital communication platforms to improve recruitment coordination, onboarding, program administration, and HR service delivery. Perform other related responsibilities as assigned or required. What We Are Looking For Undergraduate or graduate full-time student attending an accredited college or university, preferably pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Psychology, or a related field. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. Interest in human resources, talent acquisition, university relations, student programs, employee experience, or process improvement. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with candidates, students, employees, managers, and HR partners. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Customer-service mindset with strong follow-up, problem-solving, collaboration, and ownership skills. Curious and comfortable exploring ways to improve processes, leverage technology, and simplify work. High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with tools such as Canva, DocuSign, automation tools, reporting platforms, or similar technology is a plus. Ability to work 20-30 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during summer months. Ability to report onsite at least three days per week.
