Job description

Under limited supervision, responsible for writing technical materials for various company publications including but not limited to communications, instructional guides, web and marketing content. Researches available internal specifications, reports and currently published content to inform writing. Interviews subject matter experts and participates on project teams to gather relevant technical information. Recommends communication approach and plan for approval by lead or manager and then executes the approved plan. Requires knowledge of division services, document standards and industry best practices. Works with other technical writers and strategists to document and improve editorial process and standards. Reports frequently to the Communications and Content Strategy manager. Your Core Responsibilities Will Include: Content analysis, development and delivery: web content, instructional guides, marketing materials, communications; including content usability testing of content. Storyboarding and digital content creation. Other duties as assigned. Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Computing Services. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills 3-5 Years of Relevant Work Experience 3-5 Years of Technical Writing Experience Preferred Qualifications: An understanding of Change Management processes. (preferred) Instructional Design experience. (preferred) Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and with frequent interruptions. Ability to pay close attention to detail; keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports and records. Visual acuity is required for activities such as extended use of a computer monitor, extensive reading, transcribing and analyzing data. Walking, standing, bending, and lifting are occasionally required. May be required to travel to and work at various on-campus locations. Decision Making: Decisions may affect a work unit or department. Job may contribute to business and operational decisions. Working Conditions: Required to work normal business hours; evening and weekend work may occasionally be required. Accountability: Accountable for the successful completion of individual goals and priorities. Direction: Receives minimal guidance for daily tasks and general instructions for new assignments.
