What you'll do...VHE is recruiting interns for several teams including Exterior & Structural Systems, Interior Systems, VHE-Systems, Underbody Systems, Digital Transformtation, ICE Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering, Vehicle Propulsion Systems Engineering, Vehicle Evaluation and Verification, Electrified Propulsion Engineering and Ion Park. Team Description:*Exterior & Structures Systems: Exterior and Structural Systems engineering is responsible for the design and release of exterior and vehicle structure parts. Parts range from the body structure, frame, battery tray, doors, fascias & grilles, handles and latches, mirrors, glass, wipers, static and dynamic sealing, badges, lighting and other exterior ornamentation. Engineers own their parts throughout the product development life cycle, from program start to program launch ensuring they meet all design rules and requirements. They utilize engineering fundamentals such as foundation documents to ensure quality and cost efficiency. Engineers are also involved during the product development process by conducting testing and CAE to support material cost reductions (TVM) and design changes. *Vehicle Hardware Engineering Systems (VHES): VHES provides essential engineering solutions and systems integration to and for the engineering function teams. We are engaged from product conception past Job 1, ensuring requirements are translated into exciting products that exceed customer expectations. Our organization includes the following teams: VHES Design Assurance and Quality We are the first line of defense for quality matters, providing expert problem-solving, utilizing sophisticated statistical and analytic techniques. VHE Systems and Hardware Integration We manage and lead the system interfaces. We identify opportunity areas for optimization and part reduction, we drive cost reduction, weight minimization and quality improvements in forward model designs. We ensure function, cost, quality, and weight targets are met during all aspects of program execution. Our STA Program Launch responsibilities include external supplier industrialization, coordination of program APQP supplier engagement process and we provide interface with Site & Core STA to Program & Cross-Functional Launch Team. VHES Engineering Design (CAD) and Bill-of-Material (BOM) We create and deliver the virtual vehicle and aligned BOM. We design optimized parts and systems and integrate to ensure robust function with minimized weight and cost. Our outputs are the cornerstone of analytical geometric, function and production simulation modeling. VHES Core Systems Engineering We provide direct support for all aspects of Systems Engineering in integration including functional and architectural modeling. We develop new methods for system optimization and drive those methods into the engineering process. We enable and promote Systems Engineering professional development. VHES TVM Delivery We work collaboratively with engineering and the supply base to deliver value targets on current model and recently launched vehicles. *Interior Systems: Interior Systems Engineering is responsible for the visible components and safety-related components in the vehicle interior. Our components include the instrument panel and console, seat structures and components, and decorative trim. We also provide the components that protect our customers – for example, airbags and seat belts. We provide for the comfort of our customers, the user-friendliness of the interior environment and the stowage of items. Our engineers work on the product from initial conception, through launch and ensure quality during ongoing production. *Underbody Systems: Shape the Future of Mobility - Global Underbody Systems Engineering develops world-class vehicle systems that deliver outstanding driving dynamics, safety, NVH, quality, appearance, cost efficiency, and performance. Working across Ford's global engineering network, our team develops, validates, and launches innovative technologies that power the next generation of vehicles.
