To support this journey, Machining Logistics is looking for a highly motivated Freight data Analyst to strengthen our Global Transport team. In this role, you will proactively collect, analyze, and simulate transport related data including costs, performance, service levels, and CO₂ emissions to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize transportation solutions across our five Global Distribution Centers worldwide. This is far more than a reporting role. You will play an active part in shaping transport strategy, influencing key decisions, and supporting initiatives that deliver value beyond the delivery. By identifying trends, uncovering optimization opportunities, and developing data-driven recommendations, you will directly contribute to the continuous improvement of our global transportation operations. In this role you will work closely with Transportation, Procurement, Finance, Analytics, Operations and IT teams to unlock opportunities, automate reporting, and enable smarter freight decisions across our global network. In this position, you report directly to the Head of Transport within Machining Logistics. Location is flexible between EDC (The Netherlands) or APDC (Singapore). As part of a global business team, effective collaboration across regions and time zones is a natural element of the role. Your responsibilities Analyse global freight spend and transportation data to identify trends, network & cost-saving opportunities, and operational improvements (Parcel, Air, Ocean, Road, Intermodal) Build and maintain dashboards and KPI reporting into clear business recommendations for senior stakeholders Support regional freight managers with rate benchmarking, and RFP/RFQ data modeling Support freight cost forecasting and freight cost reporting process and forecast freight cost trends against market indices and capacity conditions Partnering with different stakeholders to translate data into business decisions Contribute to sustainability reporting and identifying decarbonization opportunities including transportation-related emissions (Scope 3 / GHG data) Participate in (digital) regional and global projects Your profile We are looking for someone with at least a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or Business Administration, or equivalent knowledge gained from previous assignments with 2–5 years in Freight, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation analytics. Analytical Thinking Ability to translate multi-source data into clear decision-ready insights Perform freight cost, lane, carrier, and mode analyses to optimize transportation spend Strong grasp of freight economics e.g. accessorial-, fuel surcharges, dimensional weight, mode trade-offs Ensure freight master data quality, governance, and reporting consistency across systems Root-cause analysis mindset, not just "what happened" but "why, and what do we do about it" Technical foundation Strong skills for querying large shipment and transactional datasets Proficiency in Excel/Power Query at an advanced level (pivot modeling, complex formulas) Experience with BI/visualization tools, must have Power BI Familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and/or WMS data structures (e.g. SAP TM, S4 Hanna, BlueYonder WMS, Centiro) Comfortable working with EDI/API data and freight-specific data formats e.g. connecting TMS, ERP, and carrier data sources without manual exports Curious for future ready skills on predictive modeling, automation or reporting workflows, machining learning and AI (e.g. Project44) Communication & Business Partnership Cross-functional collaboration with carriers, finance, procurement and operations Ability to present complex freight data simply to all relevant stakeholders A proactive, results-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills Experience working in a global and matrix organization Our culture At Sandvik, we are tech driven, innovative, and entrepreneurial.
