Job description
Design, implement, and optimize components of highly distributed systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, availability, security, and operability. Build and test high-scale services, develop automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and leverage distributed state and data plane technologies for large-scale data processing. Develop fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, failover, retries, circuit breakers, and other resiliency patterns. Proactively monitor service health through testing, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry. Troubleshoot production issues, participate in incident response and root cause analysis, and maintain runbooks and operational procedures. Apply security controls and remediation practices while ensuring infrastructure, changes, and documentation meet applicable compliance and operational standards. Key Responsibilities Design and implement scalable distributed-system components for high-volume data retrieval, storage, and processing.Optimize system performance and implement scalability, performance, and load-testing requirements.Build resilient, fault-tolerant components using replication, failover, recovery-oriented design, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.Develop testing, telemetry, dashboards, alarms, and alerting to proactively identify service health and reliability issues.Design and test features for correctness, availability, data integrity, and synchronization, including fault-injection scenarios.Diagnose and resolve production issues, develop troubleshooting automation, and participate in operational support, incident response, and root cause investigations.Apply security controls, including encryption and access management, and implement remediation activities to improve security.Develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting, and maintenance.Follow change-management, compliance, security, and documentation requirements for cloud services.Core Responsibilities Independently plan and execute assigned work, track timelines, and adjust priorities as project requirements evolve.Collaborate across teams and build an understanding of business, stakeholder, and customer requirements.Independently investigate and resolve standard and non-standard technical issues, escalating more complex problems when appropriate.Analyze information from multiple sources, contribute to technical knowledge sharing, and promote engineering best practices.Continuously develop technical skills, seek feedback, and stay current with relevant technologies and industry practices.Identify and recommend improvements to engineering processes, tools, protocols, and workflows.
