Job description
Position Purpose: We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Project Engineer to join our energy services Boston team. In this role, you will be responsible for the survey, design, installation oversight, and commissioning of metering equipment and data gathering hardware. You will oversee contractor work during critical project phases, provide technical support for build and assembly activities, and conduct system commissioning, start-ups, and training while identifying continuous improvement opportunities. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Commission and start-up utility-grade metering equipment. Engineer and design new or modified advanced metering systems to meet customer objectives. Review project, equipment, and proposed design plans for specification compliance. Conduct on-site surveys and walkthroughs with operating personnel, contractors, and engineering teams. Perform lab testing for process troubleshooting and optimization. Manage multiple projects simultaneously over extended periods. Troubleshoot, inspect, and rebuild existing equipment in field environments. Prepare technical documentation, procedures, internal memoranda, and reports in a timely manner. Oversee contractor work during specific project phases and provide technical support. Work Environment: Travel up to 20% (Outside Tri-State Area). Education/Experience/Background: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Implementation and support experience with control systems and/or DCS (Distributed Control Systems). PLC and logic programming, configuration, and support experience. Experience with databases and SQL queries. PC/server configuration experience. Thin client systems and/or VMware experience. Background in the energy industry. Experience working in integrated IT/OT environments with frequent IT personnel collaboration. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Thorough understanding of electric circuits and the ability to make decisions based on circuit diagrams. Proficiency in AutoCAD or Visio for creating or modifying design documents. Comprehensive understanding of MEP drawings (electrical, mechanical, and plumbing). Basic network understanding and troubleshooting capabilities. Thorough understanding of control panel design, wiring, and plant instrumentation.
