If you believe the best way to do your job hasn’t been invented yet, you’ll fit right in. Product Safety & Compliance Engineer NPD Compliance – Household Appliances & Medical Devices The Product Safety & Compliance Engineer partners with global product development teams and external certification bodies (NRTLs and agency labs) to drive product safety compliance and certification from concept through mass production. The portfolio is primarily household appliances, with medical and wellness devices. This is a hands-on engineering role: you will influence product design early, own the certification path, and be the voice of compliance in the room — including when that means pushing back. What You'll Do • Own certification and risk-analysis activities for multiple new product development projects simultaneously, from product concept through mass production. • Translate complicated regulatory and standards requirements into simple, actionable design guidance for design engineers and product managers — early enough to shape the design, not just audit it after the fact. • Review product designs and constructions against applicable safety standards; identify compliance gaps and propose practical, engineering-grounded mitigation. • Define certification deliverables, sample plans, and timelines with development teams and third-party labs; drive agency evaluations to close on schedule. • Execute risk analysis (hazard analysis, DFMEA) and maintain traceable compliance documentation across the product lifecycle. • Present project status, certification timelines, and risks in weekly cross-functional reviews — clearly, confidently, and without burying the bad news. • Assess design changes (ECNs) for certification impact and manage agency follow-up activities through launch and post-launch. • Contribute to continuous improvement of compliance processes, templates, and stage-gate deliverables. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or a related engineering discipline). An engineering degree is a firm requirement for this role. • Hands-on experience with both product design and the certification process: you have taken electromechanical products through agency evaluation (NRTL, CB Scheme, or equivalent) from concept to production, and you have worked on the design side — not solely in documentation, auditing, or quality-records roles. • 2–4 years of relevant experience with consumer, commercial, or medical/wellness electromechanical products. • Working knowledge of general product safety standards: UL and IEC standards for household appliances (e.g., the IEC/UL 60335 series) and for medical and wellness devices (e.g., the IEC 60601 family). Preferred • Direct experience interfacing with NRTLs, agency labs, or Notified Bodies. • Familiarity with EMC and multi-market certification schemes (e.g., cULus, CE, UKCA, CB). • Exposure to FDA-regulated medical or wellness devices. Who You Are • A clear communicator: you make complex regulatory requirements understandable to non-compliance audiences — design engineers, product managers, and leadership — and tailor the message to what each audience needs to act on. • Self-driven: you take ownership of your projects, work effectively with moderate supervision, and don't wait to be told what needs doing. • Courageous: you hold firm on safety and compliance positions under program and schedule pressure, say “no” when the design isn't compliant — and always follow it with the path to “yes.” • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent programs. • A problem-solver who likes to “solve the puzzles” and wants ownership of challenging assignments. • Collaborative but decisive: you make sound decisions using all available information, and you can compromise on approach without compromising on safety. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts (HSA) with company contribution, 401(k) retirement plan with matching, employee stock purchase program, life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability insurance, long-term disability insurance, generous paid time off, company holidays, parental leave, identity theft protection, pet insurance, pre-paid legal insurance, back-up child and eldercare days, product discounts, referral bonus program, and more. Pay Range $72,700—$111,400 USD Our Culture At SharkNinja, we don’t just raise the bar—we push past it every single day. Our Outrageously Extraordinary mindset drives us to tackle the impossible, push boundaries, and deliver results that others only dream of. If you th
