System Engineer (Senior) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a System Engineer to lead systems architecture development on a high‑paced, rapid development program. Position Responsibilities: Create and maintain interface control documents (ICDs). Develop and maintain system architecture artifacts that align with program objectives and stakeholder needs. Elicit, write, analyze, and manage system-level requirements throughout the development lifecycle. Produce and maintain Concept of Operations (ConOps) documents capturing operational scenarios, use cases, and stakeholder roles. Apply MBSE practices and tools (e.g., SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, or equivalent) to create and manage system models, traceability, and verification/validation mappings. Define, negotiate, and document interfaces between system elements and external systems via Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface requirement specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, verification, test, integration, product management) to ensure architectural coherence and timely delivery. Support design trade studies, risk assessments, and technical decision-making; capture rationale and outcomes. Maintain requirement traceability matrices and ensure requirements are testable, verifiable, and allocated to appropriate components. Support integration, verification, and validation activities, including developing acceptance criteria and test support. Participate in agile/sprint planning, reviews, and continuous improvement activities to support rapid development cadence. Communicate technical concepts and progress to stakeholders and leadership through presentations, reviews, and status reports. This position is expected to be fully onsite in Seal Beach, CA. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) 5+ years, minimum, of related work experience. Experience with satellite systems or space related applications. Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Systems thinking experience. Presentation experience. Experience delivering systems artifacts. Advanced degree in related field. System architecture development experience. IRAD project experience. Project management knowledge. Digital System Engineering tools. Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
