Job Description Purpose of the role To develop strategy, plan, direct, control and manage the delivery and operations of building engineering infrastructure services in partnership with service providers across the Banks property portfolio. To ensure safety, compliance, resilience, reliability, risk mitigation and business requirements are met. Director Expectations • To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide.. • They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.. • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function. • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately. • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence. • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate. • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives. • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives. • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations. • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area. • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally. • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions. • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division. Our primary aim is to acquire, create, mobilise and operate high quality financial services office environments in the most efficient and cost effective manner. This requires the management of sites ranging from small regional retail properties to large and iconic Global campus locations. Barclays CRES & Location Strategy has circa 200 employees globally who enable our property portfolio to be managed as a single common utility. We act as a partner to the business, scaling to its needs and strategic goals. We provide a wide range of services to our customers – employees around the world – and these services include property acquisition, construction, day-to-day provision of building services and strategic solutions for Barclays global footprint. Overall purpose of role As US Building Operations Director Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management and oversight of building engineering infrastructure across the US portfolio. You will lead the delivery of mechanical, electrical and controls engineering services, ensuring consistent operational excellence, regulatory compliance and alignment with business priorities. Working in line with industry best practice, you will optimise the management of engineering and building fabric assets to support safety, resilience, reliability, risk mitigation and the evolving needs of the organisation. The role will also support with the DC strategy and construction works. To be successful in your role as US Building Operations Director Lead, you will need previous experience in the following areas: • Operations background in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) • Building engineering operations experience within the financial sector or equivalent corporate environment with a focus on being ‘Always on’ • Qualified in either Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering • Experience of delivering building engineering services in a mixed portfolio of critical and complex environments during occupancy (e.g. trade floors, data centres, campuses, call centres) • Demonstrable experience of risk and incident management within critical and complex environments. Other highly valued skills include: • Management of multi-professional teams, inter stakeholders and projects. • Experience of delivering engineering solutions across a large portfolio.
