Job Description Field Work Arrangement: This is a field-based position that requires up to 75% travel to dealerships within the assigned territory on a recurring basis. The selected candidate must currently reside within or be willing to relocate to Detroit, MI or a surrounding area, approved by leadership within 60 days of the start date. As a District Sales Manager, you'll partner directly with dealerships to drive business performance, launch new technologies and vehicles, and deliver exceptional customer experiences across the Buick and GMC portfolio. This fast-paced, relationship-driven role offers the opportunity to influence outcomes, solve complex business challenges, and play a key role in the future of automotive retail. The Role: As a Sr. Zone Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind sales excellence across your zone. You’ll lead a high-performing field team, build trusted dealer relationships, and execute strategies that fuel growth, customer satisfaction, and brand loyalty. This role leads a high-performing field team, develops strategic plans to expand dealer market share and profitability, and builds strong dealer relationships. The position requires strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with significant autonomy. The Sr. Zone Manager also oversees support functions including product and technology training, accessories, financial services, business development, and dealer digital marketing strategy. What You'll Do: Drive achievement of Zone Sales performance objectives Promote Local Market Association (LMA) alignment and effectiveness through dealer and agency partnership Lead communications that supports the brand's business priorities and go-to-market strategies Mentor, coach, develop, and elevate District Manager talent Champion a business development culture that drives sales growth and aftersales opportunities Promote dealer engagement and execution excellence in Tier 3 digital marketing initiatives Lead District Manager teams in optimizing inventory performance and turn rates Partner with the Accessory Distributor and Installer (ADI) to advance dealer and LMA accessory integration strategies Assist in development and implementation of Zone customer retention and conquest strategies Hold dealers accountable through disciplined business planning and action plans that drive sales growth Oversee the Zone dealer network while managing facility image program execution and compliance Champion overall Zone training performance and Sales excellence Champion a customer-centric culture that places the customer at the center of every decision and action Administer dealer contractual agreements and ensure compliance with performance standards related to retail sales, customer satisfaction, profitability, and working capital Ensure effective adoption and utilization of dealership empowerment tools and resources Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related field 9+ years of experience in Sales, Marketing, or related fields with a proven track record of driving revenue growth 5+ years of experience leading, coaching, and developing a team highly preferred Strong automotive industry knowledge and business acumen, which may include sales, aftersales, service operations and customer experience management Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools Ability to travel up to 75% Must possess and maintain the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle in accordance with the licensing requirements of the states in which work is performed What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications): Leads through influence, aligning cross-functional teams and dealer partners to shared goals Builds trust-based, long-term relationships with dealers and internal stakeholders Analyzes complex sales data across district, zone, and regional levels Uses data and customer insights to drive market-specific action plans Highly organized and adaptable; thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments Works independently and effectively manages competing priorities Thinks strategically and creatively to drive business results Prior experience leading dealer-facing teams preferred Navigates conflict constructively and addresses performance gaps directly Solves complex business challenges with innovative, practical solutions Effectively delegates and prioritizes across multiple districts and dealerships Openness to relocate across districts and markets to broaden business knowledge, gain diverse experiences, and support organizational needs GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
