Job Overview: LPL Financial is seeking a motivated and technology-driven Software Engineering intern to help build innovative solutions that support financial advisors and their clients. This role will work alongside experienced engineers and mentors, contributing to real-world projects while gaining hands-on experience with modern software development practices, cloud technologies, and AI-powered development tools. This role is ideal for students who are passionate about coding, problem-solving, and building scalable technology solutions. Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using technologies such as React, Angular, Java, Python, .NET, Node.js, and related frameworks. Build and support APIs, backend services, databases, and cloud-based applications. Leverage automation and AI-assisted development tools to improve software quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. Collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and business teams to deliver impactful solutions. Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities. Follow software development best practices, including security, performance, and reliability standards. What are we looking for? Requirements: Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), software engineering or a related field. Available to work from of LPL Financials' primary office locations Hands-on experience through coursework, internships, hackathons, or personal projects using at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript Core Competencies: Software Engineering Fundamentals – Understanding of software development, testing, debugging, databases, APIs, and secure coding practices. Problem Solving & Collaboration – Ability to work effectively across teams and solve technical challenges in a structured manner. Cloud & Modern Development Practices – Familiarity with cloud platforms, DevOps principles, and scalable application development. Preferences: Experience with modern development frameworks and technologies such as React, Angular, .NET, Node.js, or Spring Boot. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), CI/CD pipelines, Git, and RESTful APIs. Familiarity with AI/Generative AI technologies, AI-powered coding tools, machine learning concepts, or intelligent automation solutions. Participation in team software projects, hackathons, internships, or open-source contributions. Summer Internship Schedule: Full - time position for 10 weeks in the summer of 2027; Monday through Friday, working 40 hours a week during business operating hours.
