Job description
As a Laboratory Assistant at Eurofins Experchem Laboratories Inc., you will support laboratory staff and ensure the smooth operation of testing activities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities: Assist in setting up and preparing laboratory equipment, chemical reagents, and materials for laboratory operations Support laboratory technicians with day-to-day tasks Ensure that laboratory supplies are adequately stocked and maintain inventory Prepare and sterilize laboratory media, including agar, broth, and other culture mediums as needed Ensure all media preparation protocols are followed and maintain accurate records of all tasks performed Handle the autoclave for sterilization of samples, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper safety and operational procedures Follow proper safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment Perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment and assist in troubleshooting any issues Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials following safety regulations Assist with the preparation of accurate logs as per GMP protocols Maintain compliance with quality control procedures and regulatory requirements for GMP and ISO 17025 Provide administrative support such as organizing data and verification of data Assist with Sample management Initiate, complete and document the inventory and destruction of samples A high school diploma or equivalent. A diploma or degree in a related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, laboratory science) is considered a plus. Previous experience working in a laboratory environment is a plus. Knowledge of laboratory equipment, tools, and techniques. Experience in media preparation, sterilization processes, and autoclave operation is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and supplies safely. WORKING CONDITIONS This position will be working in a laboratory environment where standing is required for greater than 50% of the time to work at the bench for analyses. Light lifting requirements of no more than 20 lbs. Evening and weekend shift work may be required. Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE.
