Job description
Own the strategy, scoping, and navigation of complex compliance initiatives across a large work group with long time horizons. Clarify, make tractable, and solve large, ambiguous technical problems, reducing architectural chaos and delivering scalable, maintainable solutions. Partner with Legal, product managers, security, and other engineering teams to align competing priorities and drive organizational consensus in the best interest of Google and its users. Identify future compliance requirements or privacy risks, designing preventive architectural safeguards into the foundational layers of GMM. Elevate engineering standards, influence designs beyond the GMM Client Infrastructure team, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in software development. 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products. 5 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management). 3 years of experience with software design and architecture. Preferred Qualifications: Experience driving compliance, privacy, or trust initiatives for a globally distributed consumer application. Experience in cross-platform development and mobile client infrastructure. Strong understanding of client-side system architecture on mobile platforms (Android or iOS). Familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting mobile applications. Demonstrated ability to reduce system complexity and invent novel architectural patterns for open-ended, ambiguous issues.
