Here at Bosch Motorsport North America, you'll be part of a growing, dynamic, and entrepreneurial team, taking on challenging tasks. As a vital member of our engineering team, you will play a key role in supporting our application and development engineers in projects focused on professional motorsport within North America. Embrace this opportunity to make an impact in the exciting world of motorsport technology! What You Will Do The Associate Motorsport Customer Application Engineer serves as the primary technical contact at customer locations and race tracks to support the development, integration, and optimization of motorsport electronic systems and software. This position requires the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments and involves frequent domestic and international travel (approximately 50–80 days per year). What You Will Do The Motorsport Customer Application Engineer is responsible for leading application engineering activities for complex motorsport products at customer locations and race tracks. This role requires managing customer requirements, project timelines, and coordination between customer-facing activities and internal development teams. Customer Application & Program Management Lead on-site customer application engineering of complex motorsport products (e.g., engine controllers, vehicle control units, displays, power boxes, and telemetry modules) at customer locations and race tracks. Manage the process of collecting requirements, defining project timelines, and coordinating customer-facing track activities with internal development teams. OEM & Team Technical Liaison Serve as the primary technical authority at track locations for factory-supported race teams. Perform troubleshooting and resolution of complex system-level issues, and coordinate with customers regarding critical parameter changes. Controls & Hybrid Strategy Architecture Develop high-level control strategies for advanced ICE and hybrid powertrains, including integration of hybrid energy recovery systems (ERS/MGU), torque master coordination, and advanced control algorithms. Vehicle Electrical Architecture Design Develop and validate full-vehicle electrical and communication network topologies, ensuring robust and optimized analog signal, digital signal, CAN, and Ethernet configurations. Simulation & Virtual Development Develop, maintain, and execute advanced virtual simulation environments, utilizing Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation benches, and Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) simulators to validate controls and support physical setups at track locations. Software Standards & Tool Leadership Design and develop internal software tools and scripts (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C#, or similar). Define, refine, and enforce coding standards and software architectures for the team. Technical/Peer Mentorship Provide technical guidance to entry-level and mid-level engineers, sharing technical best practices and supporting their development in complex trackside environments. Domestic & International Travel Travel domestically and internationally, approximately 50–80 days per year, to provide technical leadership and application engineering support at customer facilities, test tracks, and global development sites. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science 5+ years of experience in industry-relevant application engineering (academic or industry experience) 5+ years of experience with industry-relevant data analysis (working with data acquisition and data analysis tools) Industry experience defined as: professional motorsport, significant FSAE, or equivalent Desired Qualifications Technical Account & Lifecycle Management Proven experience in technical account management or customer-facing technical roles, managing customer requirements from initial gathering through on-site application, support, and system validation. Customer Communication Skills Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information effectively with customers and technical suppliers in dynamic environments. Advanced Controls Development Demonstrated experience in ICE, hybrid, and/or battery-electric powertrain controls or chassis development (e.g., traction control, torque-vectoring, and/or ERS/MGU energy recovery systems integration). Holistic System Design & Analysis Hands-on expertise in vehicle systems design and application, with experience troubleshooting complex system-level issues and implementing solutions within operational timelines. Network & Protocol Architecture Advanced knowledge of wired and wireless network architectures, including design, configuration, and troubleshooting of CAN and Ethernet-based systems. Advanced Testing & Prototyping Systems Proficiency with complex prototyping, simulation, and test equipment (e.g., dSPACE, ETAS prototyping systems, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers). Software Architecture & Tool Design Demonstrated capability to design and implement software tools using MATLAB, Python, C#, or similar languages for data processing or test automation. Leadership & Technical Mentoring Ability to mentor entry to mid-level engineers, establish technical best practices, and coordinate activities across multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Ideal Candidate Characteristics Calm & Decisive Under Pressure Comfortable making high-stakes, real-time technical decisions with incomplete data under tight trackside timelines, demonstrating strong personal accountability for vehicle performance and reliability. Systemic & Anticipatory Problem Solving Deconstructs highly complex, ambiguous vehicle system issues into distinct components, managing uncertainty and actively anticipating how changes in one system impact other vehicle interdependencies. Champion of Data-Driven Objectivity Fosters
