This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a CEI Senior Inspector for major long-term highway/bridge projects in the greater Tampa, FL area. Be involved in projects with our Florida Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Job Duties: Interpret plans and perform independent technical assignments to ensure inspection and monitoring of construction activities performed on roadway and bridge construction projects.Verify that construction activities are performed according to the contract documents, including specifications, plans, standard plans, permits, policies and procedures.Perform materials testing using hand tools, gauges and/or instruments in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements and scope of services.Use various engineering tools, equipment, instruments, and computers for performing technical tasks, problem solving and record keeping.Maintain detailed accurate records of operations and significant events: Complete and enter Daily Work Reports into client's database.Prepare documentation to validate payments to roadway contractors.Monitor and inspect the Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control (device usage, installation/placement, and materials to ensure safe work zones). Review work site activities for conformance with safety regulations and take corrective measures when deficiencies are identified.Monitor Environmental Permits compliance.Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Perform additional responsibilities as required by project needs Who You Are Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent4 years of relevant construction inspection experience; with a minimum of 2 years of CEI inspection experience on road and bridge projectsKnowledge of concepts, terminology and principles of road and bridge constructionHighly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet project objectives.Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.Ability to effectively communicate in English (orally and in writing) and maintain good working relationships with contractors, utility companies, FDOT and othersBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and tools.Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to contract documents.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Ability to work nights and weekends and be available for emergency response work as necessary.Valid Class E driver’s licenseMust successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. Certifications (must have or achieve within 3 months): CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level ICTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I & IICTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I & IICTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection preferred (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)CTQP Final Estimates Level IFDOT Intermediate MOTNuclear Radiation SafetyFlorida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and ContractorsIMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I#LI-JR1
