Job description
Position Purpose and Primary Responsibilities: • Safely transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials using various equipment (van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off frames) while ensuring compliance with DOT, EPA, state and local regulations, and company policies. • Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, verifying the integrity of equipment, load conditions, and accuracy of shipment records, manifests, and container labeling. • Maintain up-to-date DOT requirements, including driver log books, Vehicle Inspection Records, transportation permits, and other necessary documentation. • Communicate effectively with customers regarding load conditions or paperwork inconsistencies, and notify supervisors of any moving violations or accidents. • Assist in loading/unloading materials at designated sites and perform housekeeping duties as required. • Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: • High School diploma or GED with prior commercial driving experience Knowledge and Skills: • Familiarity with DOT regulations for hazardous materials transportation • Strong communication, customer service, and time management skills Required Certifications and Licenses: • Valid Class A Commercial Driving License (CDL) • Hazmat (H) and Tanker (T) endorsements • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred Veolia in North America is the top-ranked environmental company in the United States for three consecutive years, and the country’s largest private water operator and technology provider as well as hazardous waste and pollution treatment leader.
