Job description

THE ROLE The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety, life safety, risk management, and compliance programs across the venue and its event operations. The Safety Manager works closely with Venue Operations, Facilities, Security, Human Resources, Event Management, Engineering, and external partners to identify and mitigate risks, maintain regulatory compliance, strengthen emergency preparedness, and ensure safety standards are consistently applied across daily operations and events. ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safety & Risk Management Lead and oversee Legends Global comprehensive safety program, including serving as Chairperson of the Safety Steering Committee. Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve venue safety policies, procedures, and best practices. Conduct regular facility and event inspections to identify hazards, deficiencies, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement. Develop corrective action plans and work with appropriate departments and vendors to ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner. Maintain current knowledge of OSHA requirements, life safety standards, public assembly requirements, accessibility regulations, and other applicable codes and standards. Support a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, training, communication, and accountability. Identify potential operational risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies. Assist with the development and implementation of risk management programs and initiatives. Event Safety & Emergency Management Review event-specific safety requirements, operational plans, site conditions, staffing, crowd management considerations, and emergency response procedures. Assist with the development, review, testing, and implementation of emergency action plans, evacuation procedures, severe weather protocols, medical response procedures, and other emergency plans. Participate in drills, exercises, tabletop scenarios, and other emergency preparedness activities. Conduct and/or coordinate post-event safety reviews and ensure appropriate follow-up on incidents, deficiencies, and corrective actions. Partner with Human Resources and Operations to maintain an effective incident reporting and investigation process for employee injuries, guest incidents, property damage, near misses, and other safety-related events. Ensure incidents are properly documented, investigated, communicated, and followed through to resolution. Identify trends and recurring issues through incident data and recommend corrective and preventative measures. Maintain appropriate records and documentation related to safety incidents, inspections, training, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance. Life Safety & Building Systems Provide oversight of the Legends Global Life Safety program, including fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, pre-engineered fire suppression systems, emergency equipment, and associated documentation. Coordinate required inspections, testing, certifications, service, and documentation for life safety systems and equipment. Assist with compliance and documentation related to emergency generators and other critical building systems. Ensure deficiencies identified through inspections, testing, or service activities are appropriately documented and corrected. Maintain accurate physical and electronic records of inspections, certifications, testing, service, and compliance documentation. Assist with maintaining venue compliance with applicable accessibility and ADA requirements. Facilities, CMMS & Preventive Maintenance Oversee the venue's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) as it relates to safety, compliance, preventive maintenance, and facility operations. Convert maintenance requests into work orders, assign appropriate follow-up, track completion, and monitor costs. Maintain accurate asset records and ensure required service documentation is uploaded and maintained within the CMMS. Develop and monitor preventive maintenance programs for life safety systems, mechanical systems, building systems, fleet vehicles, and other fixed and movable assets. Monitor inspection schedules and ensure required preventive maintenance and compliance activities are completed on time. Work closely with Operations and Facilities leadership to prioritize work orders and address safety-related deficiencies. Utilize CMMS and building automation systems (BAS) to monitor facility conditions, maintenance requirements, and compliance activities. Compliance, Inspections & Insurance Coordinate periodic inspections and site visits with insurance carriers, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other external partners. Maintain documentation and coordinate follow-up actions resulting from inspections, audits, assessments, and insurance recommendations. Monitor compliance with applicable codes, standards, permits, inspections, and certifications. Maintain a comprehensive electronic and physical library of safety, inspection, testing, certification, and compliance records. Assist with internal audits and compliance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed. Training & Employee Engagement Partner with Human Resources and department leadership to identify, coordinate, and track required safety and compliance training. Ensure required training is completed and properly documented. Assist with developing and delivering safety training, toolbox talks, orientation programs, emergency preparedness training, and other safety communications. Promote employee awareness and accountability for safe work practices. Assist with communicating and implementing company operational best practices.
