Job description

ZoomInfo is where careers accelerate. We move fast, think boldly, and empower you to do the best work of your life. You’ll be surrounded by teammates who care deeply, challenge each other, and celebrate wins. With tools that amplify your impact and a culture that backs your ambition, you won’t just contribute. You’ll make things happen–fast. The Opportunity We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our GTM Store and ZoomInfo Data Platform teams within the Platform Engineering organization. This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role responsible for the foundational systems that store, ingest, and evolve the data powering ZoomInfo's entire go-to-market product suite. You will lead a team of senior engineers across two core areas: • GTM Store — ZoomInfo's core operational data store (BigTable), spanning scaling, performance, operational reliability, and the change data capture (CDC) systems that capture and propagate data change events downstream. • ZoomInfo Data Platform — ZoomInfo's analytical data store (BigQuery), including the ingestion pipelines and onboarding systems that bring new data in and keep it flowing accurately and efficiently, and the processes that ensure customer data deletion requests are handled promptly and compliantly. This role sits at the foundation of ZoomInfo's data infrastructure — the reliability, scale, and integrity of these systems directly determine how fast we can onboard new data and how confidently we can serve it to customers. You will manage senior technical talent directly, setting technical direction, unblocking hard problems, and holding a high bar for engineering excellence. What You'll Do Strategic Leadership & Team Development • Lead and develop a team of senior engineers and tech leads across GTM Store and the ZoomInfo Data Platform. • Set the roadmap across both areas, balancing scaling and performance needs, new data onboarding velocity, compliance obligations, security and platform reliability. • Build a high-performance engineering culture grounded in ownership, technical rigor, and operational excellence for systems operating at large scale. • Manage senior technical individual contributors directly — setting expectations, providing technical guidance, and developing career growth paths for staff-level and senior engineers. • Serve as a trusted partner to the VP of Software Engineering, contributing to broader platform engineering strategy. • Establish clear prioritization frameworks to manage competing demands across scaling, new data onboarding, compliance, and reliability work. GTM Store • Own the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the GTM Store — ZoomInfo's core operational data store (BigTable) powering the go-to-market data product. • Drive scaling initiatives to keep pace with data growth and increasing query/read-write demands from downstream products. • Guide architecture decisions to improve performance, latency, and cost-efficiency at scale. • Establish and maintain operational best practices — monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and incident response — to ensure high availability. • Own the strategy and architecture for change data capture (CDC), ensuring data change events are captured, propagated, and consumed reliably by downstream systems, including the ZoomInfo Data Platform. • Guide the selection and evolution of CDC tooling and patterns to support real-time and near-real-time data change propagation at scale. • Ensure CDC systems maintain data consistency, ordering guarantees, and fault tolerance under high event volume. • Partner with Product and downstream engineering teams to understand data access patterns and evolve the store's schema, APIs, and change event streams accordingly. ZoomInfo Data Platform • Own the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the ZoomInfo Data Platform — the analytical data store (BigQuery) that consumes and serves data for downstream analytics and product use cases. • Own the architecture and roadmap for data ingestion pipelines, including those consuming CDC streams from the GTM Store, that bring new data sources into the platform. • Drive initiatives to ease and accelerate the onboarding of new data sources, reducing the engineering lift required to integrate each new dataset. • Establish standardized, repeatable ingestion patterns and tooling that shorten time-to-value for new data. • Ensure ingestion pipelines are reliable, observable, and scalable to handle growing data volume and variety. • Own the systems and processes that handle customer data deletion requests, ensuring they are executed accurately, promptly, and in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and related regulations. • Partner with Legal/Compliance and Product to evolve data deletion workflows as privacy regulations and customer requirements change. • Build observability and auditability into deletion workflows to provide clear evidence of compliance. Cross-Functional Partnership & Enablement • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements for scaling, new data onboarding, and compliance work that inform the platform roadmap. • Drive enablement programs — documentation and tooling — that help internal teams onboard new data sources faster and with less friction. • Represent the GTM Store and ZoomInfo Data Platform in strategic planning conversations and technology decisions with company-wide implications. What You Bring Required • 8+ years of progressive experience in software/platform engineering or data engineering, with experience operating at a senior leadership level. • Experience directly managing senior technical talent — staff engineers, tech leads, or senior ICs — and holding a high technical bar. • Strong working knowledge of large-scale operational (e.g., BigTable) and analytical (e.g., BigQuery) data stores and distributed systems, including experience scaling data infrastructure to handle high volume and throughput. • Experience with data ingestion pipeline architectu
