Job description

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing, distributed team of Site Reliability Engineerings (SREs) and security engineers. Manage career development, performance evaluations, and technical mentorship while supporting the team's expansion under new initiatives. Drive the Workstreams technical roadmap, overseeing the development of automated threat intelligence and tracking systems to mitigate risks proactively. Own the team's operational health and interrupt budgets. Lead the transition to and execution of a on-call rotation, actively driving escalation workflows. Partner closely with infrastructure providers and key customer stakeholders to unify protections across ecosystems and support productized offerings. Guide the publication of internal threat research and collaborate with internal intelligence partners and external communities to establish Google as an industry leader in Denial of Service (DoS) defense. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of technical experience in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, HTTP/S), routing, load balancing, or distributed traffic serving architectures. 3 years of experience in managing technical teams. 3 years of experience managing operational incident response and participating in or supervising on-call rotations. Experience programming in one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, or Go. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering. 5 years of engineering management experience, with a proven track record of managing executive individual contributors or managing other managers. Experience shifting operational engineering teams from reactive interrupt-driven workflows to automated, intelligence-driven defense models. Demonstrated executive presence and ability to communicate complex, high-stakes security incidents calmly and decisively to engineering VPs, Directors, and enterprise Cloud customers. Extensive background in Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) incident response, malware analysis/reverse engineering, botnet tracking, WAF administration, or threat intelligence pipelines.
