Position Summary - What will you do? The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for driving sales growth through the acquisition of new Cell & Gene Therapy customers within an assigned territory. This highly strategic, hunter-focused role identifies , qualifies, and converts opportunities across emerging biotechnology companies, clinical-stage organizations, and commercial Cell & Gene Therapy developers. The successful candidate will develop and execute territory growth strategies, build relationships with executive decision-makers, uncover unmet customer needs, and position Thermo Fisher Scientific's integrated Cell & Gene Therapy Supply Chain solutions to accelerate customer development programs from clinical development through commercialization. The role requires deep knowledge of the Cell & Gene Therapy landscape and the ability to identify opportunities across clinical supply chain, manufacturing support, cryogenic logistics , storage, packaging, labeling, and broader Pharma Services Group capabilities. They will develop and execute territory growth strategies, build relationships with key decision-makers, uncover unmet customer needs, and position Thermo Fisher's Clinical Trials Division (CTD) solutions to accelerate customer development programs. The role requires a strong understanding of the Cell & Gene Therapy landscape and the ability to identify opportunities across clinical supply chain , storage, transportation, and broader Pharma Services Group offerings. Key Responsibilities : • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan focused on sales growth, new logo acquisition, and market penetration within the Cell & Gene Therapy segment. • Identify , qualify, and close new business opportunities with emerging and established Cell & Gene Therapy companies. • Generate and maintain a robust pipeline through proactive prospecting, market intelligence, networking, industry conferences, and referral channels. • Identify expansion opportunities within existing customer accounts and partner with other commercial teams to increase share of wallet. • Leverage Salesforce, industry databases, funding announcements, clinical trial activity, M&A activity, and market trends to identify high-potential opportunities. • Build relationships with executive leadership, clinical supply chain, manufacturing, operations, procurement, and development stakeholders. • Position integrated CTD solutions, including transportation services, temperature-controlled storage, clinical supply chain, packaging and labeling, comparator sourcing, and commercialization support. • Collaborate across Thermo Fisher business units to drive a One Thermo Fisher strategy and maximize customer value. • Lead customer presentations, business reviews, and opportunity development meetings. • Maintain accurate opportunity management, forecasting, sales call reporting and territory planning within Salesforce. • Represent Thermo Fisher at industry conferences, Cell & Gene Therapy events, and primarily in-person and virtual customer meetings Knowledge, Skills & Experience : • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field. • 3 + years of business development or strategic sales experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO, CRO, or clinical supply chain industry. • Demonstrated success in new business acquisition and territory development. • Experience selling into Cell & Gene Therapy or specialty pharmaceutical markets preferred. • Strong understanding of drug development, clinical supply chain, and outsourced pharmaceutical services. • Proven ability to influence executive-level stakeholders and manage complex sales cycles. • Cell & Gene Therapy (preferred) • Clinical Trial Services / Clinical Supply Chain (preferred) • Temperature-Controlled Logistics (preferred) What does Success Look Like? • New logo acquisition • Annual revenue growth • Pipeline generation and conversion • Territory growth and market penetration • Share-of-wallet expansion within existing customers • Opportunity creation and sales activity metrics • Strategic customer engagement in-person and virtual How will you get there? • Demonstrate behaviours in line with the Thermo Fisher Core Competencies and 4i Values. • Takes ownership, accepts responsibility for your actions and always make sound decisions with solid verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrate an adaptive and flexible work style shown to be effective working across varied types of clients, senior level leaders and key stakeholders . • Appreciation and respect for diversity, cultures, and professional workplace standards. • Ensure compliance with cGMP, Quality Systems and training requirements are met in line with business need . Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $95,000.00–$142,475.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
