Software Engineer Manager II, Firmware Laptops and Tablets

Job description

Manage a team of 8-9 engineers. Work with a larger team of engineers and product managers to design and develop firmware features. Evaluate and help improve firmware code and processes for scalability and maintainability. Participate in board bring-ups and work with partners to deliver new Chrome Operating System (Chrome OS) and Android devices. Collaborate with a global team of software and hardware engineers on new technology proposals and process improvements. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in software development. 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems. 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role. 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. Experience with x86/ARM assembly. Experience with Linux development environment and git/gerrit tools. Experience developing in coreboot, Zephyr OS, or other open-source projects. Experience bringing up USB-C stack, sensors, and other peripherals. Experience building consumer electronics and knowledge of manufacturing, supply chain, and customer support processes.
