Are you an aspiring electrical engineer with a passion for creating products for a better world? Do you enjoy staying on top of all the new technological developments? We are seeking motivated, forward-thinking students to join our team as an Engineering Intern, supporting the development of advanced electronic modules for next generation vehicles. As an intern, you will work alongside Ford Electrical & Electronic HW Technical Specialists and the design team, gaining hands-on exposure to Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) and contributing to the creation of innovative electrical and electronics systems and products. This internship offers the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while supporting the implementation of circuits, including schematic and PCB layout, gaining exposure to the latest analysis and simulation methods, and assisting with issue resolution, while building the foundational skills needed to drive engineering excellence throughout your career. Join us and gain real-world experience shaping the future of automotive electronics.What you'll do...• Support review of Supplier design and Worst-Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) documentation against Ford Requirements and applicable specifications, under the guidance of senior engineers.• Assist in tracking Program Timing and coordinating with WCCA Engineers to support adherence to established processes and documentation practices.• Support root cause analysis activities and help document corrective action findings.• Assist in applying engineering principles to product design, learning best practices and lessons learned to support reliable, cost-competitive designs.• Gain hands-on exposure to circuit schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard tools.• Learn and apply design-for-manufacturing and mistake-proofing concepts to support robust design outcomes.• Assist with basic tolerance stack-up/worst case circuit analyses (Extreme Value, RMS, or Monte Carlo methods) under supervision.• Help capture and document WCCA issues and lessons learned for future reference.• Support basic power integrity analysis tasks as assigned.• Assist in generating reports summarizing findings and supporting recommended design changes.• Participate in cross-functional team meetings to gain exposure to the product development process.• Attend and observe technical design reviews to learn design compliance requirements.• Support the preparation and organization of engineering documentation.• Assist in the build and construction of assemblies during early prototype stages.• Help define and execute basic stress test routines to support functional validation.• Document observed failure modes and provide input to support design improvement discussions.• Support investigation of functional abnormalities in module designs under mentor guidance.• Learn Ford and industry lessons-learned documentation practices for quality history records. You'll have...Currently pursuing a Bachelor's / Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study• Coursework or academic project experience in electronics circuit design, simulation, controls, modeling, or analysis.• Basic familiarity with electronic circuit disciplines and processes.• Exposure to CAD tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Cadence Design Systems, etc.) through coursework, projects, or prior internships is a plus.• Familiarity with circuit analysis or simulation tools (e.g., Mathcad, Spice, Saber) through academic work is a plus.• Basic understanding of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) is a plus but not required.Even better, you may have...• Interest in specialized hardware and embedded software systems.• Basic knowledge of microprocessors, solid state memory, cameras, displays, and sensors.• Exposure to industry-standard interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, Ethernet, LVDS, DDR, PCI, I2S, A2B, etc.) through coursework or projects.• Familiarity with test equipment (e.g., programmable power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic and network analyzers, temperature chambers) through lab work.• Exposure to simulation tools for signal integrity and power management circuitry.• General awareness of automotive reliability and EMC design considerations is a plus.• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with peers, mentors, and cross-functional teams.• Highly motivated, curious, and eager to learn, with a self-starter attitude.
