Pre-Silicon Diagnostics Intern This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with a requirement that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office. Job Description: Job Level Definition Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Works under the guidance of experienced engineers on defined projects and assignments. Applies academic knowledge to solve technical problems, develops software and test solutions, and gains practical experience with ASIC validation methodologies, networking technologies, and large-scale software development practices. Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and strong problem-solving skills while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional engineering team. Responsibilities Assist in developing and executing chip-level validation tests for HPE Slingshot NIC and switch ASICs using emulator-based environments. Develop software tools, scripts, and automated tests to improve validation efficiency and coverage. Analyze test results and help investigate hardware and software issues identified during validation. Work with engineers from architecture, design, firmware, and software teams to understand product functionality and validation requirements. Contribute to test infrastructure and automation projects under the guidance of senior engineers. Document findings, debug activities, and project results. Participate in technical design reviews, team meetings, and validation discussions. Complete a defined summer project and present results to the engineering team. Required Knowledge and Skills Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience with programming in Python, C++, Java, or a similar language through coursework, projects, or internships. Familiarity with Linux or Unix command-line environments. Understanding of computer architecture, digital logic, networking, operating systems, or embedded systems concepts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to learn new technologies and work effectively in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferred Knowledge and Skills Coursework or project experience involving computer networking, operating systems, or digital design. Familiarity with Python scripting and test automation. Exposure to FPGA, ASIC, or hardware validation concepts through coursework or personal projects. Experience using Linux. Knowledge of networking fundamentals. Experience with Git or other version control systems. Interest in high-performance computing (HPC), AI infrastructure, or large-scale networking technologies.
