Job description

This position is responsible for all activities related to the preparation of media and reagent preparation General Tasks & Responsibilities: Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods. Adhere to appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed current GMP standards, government regulatory, and company requirements relevant to assigned duties. Maintaining a neat and accurate record system of work performed on a daily basis and as needed for quality control tests or regulatory purposes. Perform daily calibration of balances, purified water system and pH meters in the BPT Lab Weekly testing of purified water system Media preparation (including but not limited to) Careful and accurate preparation and documentation of media preparation Inventory management of media and reagent components (organized storage, maintaining inventory levels and discard of expired items) Inventory management of prepared or purchased pre-made media (organized storage, maintaining inventory levels and discard of expired items) QC of all media used at the Eurofins location Cleaning and decontamination labware Autoclaving and disposal of garbage Autoclaving of glassware and other tools as needed Disposal of Laboratory retention samples Quality control procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Technical Skills: Good computer skills - proficiency with MS Office; Working knowledge of Laboratory Information management Systems (LIMS). GMP documentation Handling of bacterial cultures in a BSL 2 laboratory Weighing, pipetting, streaking, pour plating and other standard microbiology techniques General microbiology techniques including but not limited to: Microbial Limits Tests Growth Promotion Water and Environmental Monitoring tests (including sample collection) Competent technical laboratory skills not requiring constant direct supervision. Familiar with instrumentation/equipment handling. Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies. Experienced in the operation, routine maintenance and troubleshooting of specified, instrumentation or equipment. Familiar with sample preparation procedures. Follows directions accurately. Able to work independently on a variety of tasks. Strong computer, and organizational skills. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in data/report generation, retrieval, and interpretation of routine analysis. Working Conditions: This position will be working in a laboratory environment where standing is required for greater than 50% of the time to work at the bench for analyses. Light lifting requirements of up to 20 kg. This role requires working either Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday shifts following successful completion of training. Overtime may be required to meet client deadlines.
