NBC News Studios is seeking an experienced contract Audio & Mix Engineer to support the production of audio-first and video podcast programming. This role is responsible for engineering recording sessions, managing technical aspects of studio and remote productions, editing and mixing episodes, and helping maintain the highest standards of audio quality across our portfolio. The position will be primarily dedicated to supporting NBC News’ daily podcast, Here's The Scoop, while also contributing to other podcast productions as needed. This is a Monday through Friday, full-time daily, hybrid role requiring four days onsite at NBC’s 30 Rock location, though all five days may be onsite as needed to support production. PLEASE NOTE: This is a short-term position with an estimated duration of 24 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. Responsibilities: Engineer in-studio and remote podcast recording sessions. Prepare studios, microphones, routing, monitoring, and talkback systems. Record and manage multitrack audio assets. Edit, clean, and mix podcast episodes in Pro Tools. Collaborate with producers, editors, and talent to meet editorial and delivery deadlines. Troubleshoot audio and technical issues during live and recorded sessions. Support video podcast workflows, including synchronization and delivery of audio assets. Maintain consistent loudness, quality control, and delivery standards. 4+ years of professional podcast experience. Expert knowledge of Pro Tools. Experience with Riverside, Descript, and remote recording workflows. Strong understanding of signal flow, microphone techniques, and audio troubleshooting. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. Excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently guide guests through technical setup and troubleshooting in a calm, professional manner. Experience supporting video podcast productions strongly preferred. Familiarity with Premiere Pro, PTZ camera workflows, and studio production systems is a plus. Additional Requirements: Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
