The Intermediate Transmission Line Engineer can be located with any of our Power Delivery teams located in any of our Western Canada offices - with preference for Edmonton. WSP is a leader in the delivery of clean energy and Power sector solutions to meet the increasing demand for safe, secure, and sustainable energy for Canadians which requires a substantial expansion of the electricity transmission network. In this intermediate role, you will help bring WSP’s vast expertise, experience, and innovation to support our clients, utilities, and communities in the transformation to a new energy future. Your Impact Lead technical aspects of transmission line design projects (34.5kV–500kV), including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additionsPrepare and review design deliverables, such as plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specificationsConduct quality reviews of internal and subcontractor deliverablesManage and prioritize multiple projects within budget and time constraintsEvaluate technical options, criteria, and routes for design meritApply knowledge of construction standards for high voltage line workCoordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure client satisfactionAct as Technical Project Management Lead and maintain strong client relationshipsManage project reporting, invoicing, accounts receivable, and unbilled workDevelop and monitor scope, schedules, and budgets against plan and contractsEnsure adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirementsServe as primary liaison between client and project team; understand client interestsProactively identify challenges and implement solutions for project successProvide leadership and mentoring to the project teamTravel to client offices, field sites, or vendor facilities as requiredSupport business development activities and participate in proposal preparation The Skills That Set You Apart Civil (BSCE), Mechanical (BSME), or Electrical (BSEE) or Engineering Physics (BSc) degree, from an accredited universityBetween 5 to 10 years experience in transmission design – design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packagesProficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-LiteExperience in a Project Engineering or Project Management capacity working with multidisciplinary teams on complex projectsMust have Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.)Experience with AutoCAD/Microstation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project is strongly preferredKnowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line constructionDistribution/underbuild design experience is a plusManagerial and leadership skillsWhy Choose WSP?
