Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES Execute microbiological analysis for the quality control of raw materials, semi-finished products, packaging materials, and the production environment. Conduct and support sampling activities, including incoming goods sampling, establishing sample drawing procedures, collecting samples, and transferring samples to the laboratory. Prepare microbiological samples, use or prepare plates, incubate samples, evaluate results, add explanatory comments where required, document analysis results, and create reports. Execute maintenance, calibration, and coordination of laboratory equipment service, repairs, and supplier appointments as required. Develop, validate, adapt, and document microbiological methods, SOPs, and quality-management documentation for the Chilliwack facility. Collaborate with and support the laboratory team, production, quality assurance, quality control, and facility management during startup and routine operations. Schedule and complete environmental monitoring activities on monthly, quarterly, or other defined cycles, and coordinate testing requirements with production. Collaborate within the company's HACCP team and contribute to food-safety and quality-system requirements. Support startup projects, non-routine cleaning, system tests, equipment setup, documentation readiness, and continuous improvement activities. Strong analytical and technical skills and proficient in the use of laboratory equipment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, GMP, GLP, or similar quality systems. Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. BSc. in Microbiology-related fields or equivalent experience or training. Master's degree is an asset.
