Job description
Apple is seeking a System EE for Mac Development platform electrical & system design integration. The candidate will design, implement, test, and debug the electrical subsystem of the world’s best all-in-one computers within a collaborative cross-functional team, working with mechanical engineering, software, silicon engineering, and other module teams such as wireless, camera, sensing, and display. Our engineers rely on skills in computer system architecture, schematic design, digital and analog circuits, power and voltage regulator integration, high speed signal integrity concepts, PCB design, bring up and system level troubleshooting to surprise and delight millions of customers! Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study with industry level practical work experience. Strong EE fundamentals, grounded in a solid understanding of E&M physics and first principles with an understanding of computer / system architecture and the associated design tradeoffs. Working knowledge of design and validation requirements for common low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces: I2C/SMBus, SPMI, SPI, I2S/TDM, USB, MIPI, PCIe, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt. Experience using lab tools such as 25 GHz oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and instrumentation amplifiers to judge the quality and robustness of electrical designs. Experience with protocol decode. Experience in circuit design for a variety of domains including power, digital, analog, high-speed communications, programmable logic, and/or wireless. Experience working closely with software and firmware teams on design bring-up, validation and test of electrical circuits and communication interfaces. Work with constrained multilayer PCBs including HDI and fine pitch BGAs. Requires familiarity with Allegro or other PCB design tool. Experience designing for high-speed and high power system based cables and flex boards, Multi layer flexible PCBs and the ability to perform component data-sheet analysis and selection for schematic capture. Inclusive of both digital and analog design (power sensing, filtering, etc). Preferred Qualifications: Schematic capture and constraint-driven PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar. Experience with PCB bringup and debug, including new or custom silicon, using standard EE lab equipment: Soldering, DMM, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer. Experience with complex data analysis, data visualization and script development. Beyond technical aptitude, we prize curiosity, creativity, integrity, leadership, teamwork, and a passion for learning. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
