Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a Director of Market Analytics to join our team. Position Description The Director of Market Analytics is the intelligence engine of Oklo's Origination organization. You will own the market research, energy price forecasting, load growth analysis, and competitive intelligence that underpin every site selection decision, offtake negotiation, and project finance model in Oklo's Aurora powerhouse pipeline. You report to the Sr Director of Origination and work in close partnership with the Directors of Land & Real Estate, as well as Oklo's Finance team on revenue model inputs. Specific responsibilities may include: Market Research & Forecasting • Own Oklo's long-term power market forecasting function across all target geographies: capacity prices, energy prices, ancillary services, and carbon compliance costs • Develop and maintain market models covering AI datacenter load growth, electrification, generation retirements, new build pipeline, and transmission constraints • Produce market assessments supporting site selection, development prioritization, and go/no-go decisions • Monitor and analyze ISO/RTO capacity market results, energy market dynamics, and grid planning studies Commercial & Policy Intelligence • Provide market intelligence to support PPA negotiations: pricing benchmarks, contract structure norms, and counterparty credit analysis • Track federal and state energy policy: IRA Section 45U PTC, state clean energy standards, carbon markets, and capacity market rules • Monitor FERC rulemaking and RTO/ISO market design changes affecting Aurora powerhouse siting and interconnection economics • Produce quarterly market intelligence briefings for the VP of Origination, VP of Development, and board Offtake Structure & Value Optimization • Lead comparative analysis of Oklo’s power offtake structures to maximize company value across the development portfolio, evaluating: Build-Own-Transfer (BOT) arrangements with utilities or sovereign buyers; physical bilateral PPAs with corporate, utility, and government counterparties; Virtual PPAs (VPPAs) and financial contracts for difference (CfD) with creditworthy corporate offtakers; capacity market participation and merchant revenue strategies for unsold output; and hybrid structures combining elements of the above to optimize risk-adjusted project returns • Develop and maintain a quantitative offtake structure comparison model evaluating each structure across: NPV to Oklo, project finance bankability, revenue certainty vs. upside optionality, counterparty credit risk, regulatory complexity, and balance sheet impact — enabling the VP of Origination and CFO to make data-driven offtake strategy decisions at the project and portfolio level • Produce deal-specific offtake structure recommendations for each Aurora powerhouse project, factoring in local market conditions, offtaker creditworthiness, state regulatory environment, IRA 45U PTC monetization strategy, and Oklo’s portfolio-level risk exposure • Benchmark Oklo’s offtake structures against comparable nuclear, clean firm, and baseload generation transactions, identifying pricing floors, deal terms, and structural innovations that can improve Oklo’s commercial position Team & Infrastructure • Build and manage a team of market analysts and data scientists • Establish Oklo's market data infrastructure: vendor relationships (S&P Global, Wood Mackenzie, LSEG, Aurora Energy Research), data pipelines, and reporting tools • Build market intelligence capabilities for Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses (NLICs), analyzing co-location economics, anchor tenant demand profiles, and multi-product revenue optimization across power, isotope, and research facility outputs Minimum Qualifications: • 10+ years in power market analysis, energy economics, or related field • Deep expertise in US wholesale electricity markets: ISO/RTO market structure, capacity and energy pricing, ancillary services, and transmission • Demonstrated experience building long-term power market forecasts used in investment decisions, project finance, or M&A • Strong financial modeling skills; experience building revenue models for generation assets Bonus Qualifications: • Experience analyzing baseload or dispatchable generation assets (nuclear, gas, hydro, storage) in competitive wholesale markets • Familiarity with AI datacenter power demand, hyperscaler offtake structures, and the corporate PPA market • Experience with leading market data platforms: S&P Global Platts, Wood Mackenzie, LSEG Eikon, Aurora Energy Research Competencies We are looking for a Director of Market Analytics that is: • Passionate about clean energy • Passionate about making advanced fission a reality • Willing and able to learn quickly • Eager to work on a dynamic team, receive constructive feedback, and grow with us • Willing to think differently and do things in new ways • Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment • Excited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving, while not leaning only on what has been done before • Willing to propose novel and creative solutions to technical problems • An excellent writer who can write in modern active voice, so make your cover letter compelling and write it well! • Able to communicate technical content and results verbally Who you are: A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process.
